Former third overall pick joins Colorado after stints with Coyotes, Wild, and Maple Leafs
Galchenyuk was the first overall pick in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection Draft
The Colorado Avalanche have signed forward Alex Galchenyuk to a one-year contract for the remainder of the 2022-23 season, the team announced Wednesday.
Galchenyuk, 29, was the third overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. He has since played for the Arizona Coyotes, Minnesota Wild, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
In 581 career NHL games, Galchenyuk has 122 goals and 209 assists. He had 12 goals and 21 assists in 67 games with the Maple Leafs last season.
The Avalanche are hoping that Galchenyuk can provide some depth scoring and help the team make a run in the playoffs.
