Background
The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot met on Monday to consider a resolution to hold Mark Meadows, former chief of staff to President Donald Trump, in contempt of Congress. The committee voted unanimously to advance the resolution, which now goes to the full House for a vote.
Meadows is accused of refusing to comply with a subpoena from the committee, which is investigating the events leading up to the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Meadows has said that he is invoking executive privilege in order to avoid testifying before the committee.
