The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes: A Prequel to The Hunger Games

Suzanne Collins' Novel Comes to Life on the Big Screen

The world of Suzanne Collins' "The Hunger Games" is expanding once again with a big-screen adaptation of her prequel novel, "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes."

The film, set to arrive eight years after the most recent installment in the franchise, will focus on the character of Coriolanus Snow as a young man, 64 years before the events of the original trilogy.

Francis Lawrence, who directed three of the four "Hunger Games" films, will return to helm the prequel. Michael Arndt ("Toy Story 3") and Michael Lesslie ("Macbeth") will serve as screenwriters.

Casting for the film has not yet been announced, but it is expected to begin soon.
