'I'll probably get emotional' at European return - Murray
Andy Murray says he will “probably get emotional” when he makes his European Tour return at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters next week.
The Scot has not played in Europe since the Davis Cup Finals in November 2022, having spent the early part of this season in Australia and the Middle East.
Murray, who has a wildcard for the Monte-Carlo Masters, is excited to be back on the continent and is hoping to make a strong run in the tournament.
“I'm really looking forward to getting back to Europe and playing in front of the European fans again,” Murray said. “I've missed playing in Europe, and I'm hoping to have a good run in Monte-Carlo.”
Murray has a good record at the Monte-Carlo Masters, having reached the final in 2016 and 2017. He is also a two-time winner of the tournament, having won in 2011 and 2016.
The Scot is currently ranked No. 66 in the world, but he is confident that he can still compete with the best players in the world.
“I know that I'm not the player that I once was, but I still believe that I can win tournaments,” Murray said. “I'm working hard every day to improve my game, and I'm confident that I can still achieve great things.”
Murray's return to Europe is a major boost for the tournament, and he is sure to be a fan favorite in Monte-Carlo.
